BMW revealed the all-new i3 today, the first model from its new i sub-brand. The eagerly anticipated vehicle, unveiled simultaneously in New York, London and Beijing, is the German automaker's first foray into the world of series production electric cars.

It is purpose-built around an electric powertrain to serve the needs of our megacity customers,” said Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, at the world premiere in New York on Monday.
