From Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen, Italdesign Giugiaro celebrates the massive impact the company’s had on auto design in the last 45 years.
Italdesign Giugiaro, now under the Volkswagen Group umbrella, is celebrating ’45 Years of Shape’ this year.
Originally founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani as Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A in 1968, the company has created concept and production vehicles for automakers — such as Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Lancia, Lotus, Maserati, and Volkswagen to name a few — as well as industrial design projects in a variety of different fields.
Over the course of its 45-year history, Italdesign Giugiaro has won five Association for Industrial Design (ADI) Compasso d’Oro awards for the Panda, Punto and Brera models as well as the Isotron dental system and Giorgetto Giugiaro’s own career.
To celebrate the anniversary the company has created a video that spans some of its more interesting work. From the 1968 Bizzarrini Manta through to the 2012 Guigiaro Brivido concept, the video above takes us through the company’s illustrious history in less than eight minutes. Enjoy!
