Faraday Future Announces FF91 Premium Flagship Vehicle at 2017 CES

Faraday Future was at it again in Las Vegas this year, revealing the FF91 to a sea of technology aficionados at the annual Consumer Electronics Show. It’s a stark contrast to last year’s single seat FFZero1 supercar concept, which flew over the heads of those that expected a road-going car, yet it retains some design elements showcased in the 2016 concept.

The Faraday Future FF91 is the California-based company’s first production car: a 5250mm long and 2283mm wide electric vehicle that boasts impressive performance figures. With 1050hp and 1328lb-ft of torque on tap, the FF91 can reach 60mph in 2.39 seconds. Aided in part by an aerodynamic 0.25Cd, it is also said to achieve a 378-mile range on a single charge.

The FF91 also includes a unique FFID system that employs face recognition to replace the conventional key, an autonomous sensor suite complete with 3D lidar technology and 10 HD cameras, a PDLC-infused translucent roof (and side windows), and a connectivity suite that includes the company’s own FFCTRL app, which allows users to remotely summon the vehicle.

“There are companies that have shown great electric vehicles… but while these companies inspire us what they are doing is a slight progression of where we’ve been before,” says FF’s SVP of engineering Nick Sampson. “We’re ready to take that final decisive charge into the future… Faraday Future intends to lead that charge.”

“Tomorrow is too important for us, and for humanity. We have to flip the automotive industry on its head… independent of fossil fuels.”

Expect more details to emerge as Faraday Future readies the car for a formal launch in March this year, with delivery commencing in 2018. Faraday is currently accepting $5000 refundable deposits via its website, with a portion of the funds going to a yet unnamed environmental charity. The FF91’s actual price has also yet to be announced.
