Spyker Futu-Rustic concept

With an unmistakable nod to the past, Mesrop Megrabyan’s most compelling project at the Art Center degree show was his Spyker single seat racer, which he calls the ‘Futu-Rustic’ concept.

The project began as a “study of the honest machine,” says Megrabyan. “Inspiration comes from Gentleman’s racers of a bygone era.”

Seeking to give shape to purity of purpose, the ‘Futu-rustic’ concept is obviously futuristic, but also features raw elements, simple forms and and an honesty in the materials.

The design sought to merge the cockpit with the exterior as well as integrating the driver’s silhouette into the overall look of the vehicle, effectively tying the car and driving experience to their surroundings.
