Trends: It’s All in the Detailing

While we’ve witnessed a return of elegance in 2013 after a period of overcomplicated and overwrought surface treatments, the level of detail in graphical treatments continues to increase, becoming more complex and dynamic — sometimes even playful.

New connections between headlamps and grille, more intricate grille textures, and more emphasis on the lower mouth area demonstrate how designers are raising the game in terms of exterior detailing of the front face of the car.

Elsewhere on the car we see more three-dimensional rear lamp forms, bolder rear diffuser and exhaust outlets, twisted wheel spokes and two-tone wheel colors – all are evidence of increased decoration and entertainment in exterior design detailing.
