In Pictures: Auto China 2014

This year’s Auto China 2014 in Beijing was the venue for a number of concept and production car debuts. With Western manufacturers increasingly looking to the world’s biggest car market to increase sales and maximize profits, the show wasn’t short on new metal.

Audi was present with the TT Offroad concept, a compact four-door crossover with a rakish roofline that’s based on the TT’s underpinnings, as the name suggests; BAIC showed its take on the SUV with the BJ 100 concept; BMW showed off the Future Vision Luxury concept, a large four door that’s said to preview a new range-topping sedan for the Bavarian automaker. Chery unveiled the Concept Alpha sedan and Concept Beta SUV, and Citroen was on hand with the DS5 LS and the DS6 WR concepts.

Ford launched a new Escort for the Chinese market; GAC revealed its vision for a future electric sedan with the E-Jet concept and a conventionally-powered Trumpchi G6 as well as the Whitstar crossover concept with gullwing doors; Geely brought the Emgrand Cross; Honda Revealed the Concept B and Spirior sedans; and JAC revealed a large crossover concept called the SC9.


Mercedes revealed the Concept Coupe SUV; Great Wall Motors showed the Haval Coupe Concept SUV; Peugeot unveiled its progressive Exalt concept, and Volkswagen came armed with the Golf R400 and NMC concepts.
